On 6th June 1996, XIBER.com launched its first major project, which was the DAWN Internet Edition (www.DAWN.com). DAWN is Pakistan's most respected and widely circulated English language daily. Within six months DAWN's Internet Edition was rated by the prestigious Lycos Review, as one of the
top 5% of all web sites. Apart from generating, maintaining and archiving DAWN's Internet Edition, XIBER.com provides around the clock updates on the DAWN site. After Internet usage exploded in Pakistan, XIBER.com entered a joint venture with the DAWN Group to jointly produce
SPIDER in 1998, which has grown to be Pakistan's most widely read Internet magazine. The magazine also has an online component, which is updated by XIBER.com content editors (www.SPIDER.tm).
In early 1999, XIBER.com launched DesiChat, which is the most popular Pakistani chat site on the internet today (www.DesiChat.com). With e-commerce taking off in the rest of the world, XIBER.com formed a joint venture with DesiStore Internet Services in the United States to launch one of the pioneering Pakistani e-commerce platforms.
DesiStore came onto the Internet in December 1999, and in terms of volume and sales is one of the leading South Asian Internet retailers (www. DesiStore. com).
